How Do You Create a Personal History?

It's easy! Just one story at a time.

Step One

At a free initial consultation, Audrey will gather a few facts, dates, and details about you and your family. She will explain her services and what it would be like to work together.

A series of recorded interviews will be conducted in the comfort of your own home. Each session will last less than two hours. Audrey has a sensitive, relaxed interviewing style, and will guide you gently with questions intended to evoke stories and seemingly forgotten moments. One memory will trigger another -- weaving a rich and colorful tapestry.

"You have a simpatico way. You gave him a great breakthrough when you interviewed him so skillfully and softly. You made him feel safe in saying more than he had ever said to anyone else. Your interview allowed him to come to terms, for the first time, with his memories of World War II."

June Osterberg, San Francisco

Step Three

Audrey will transcribe the interviews and transform them into a personal narrative in your own words -- a mosaic that allows your spirit to shine through the printed page and retains the warmth and spontanaeity of conversation. In the transcribing and editing phase, she organizes the stories and shapes the narrative so that there is coherency without sacrificing your unique voice. She will then present drafts for your approval.

Step Four

Together you'll sort through your favorite photographs, saved letters and documents. They will be scanned and included with the narrative to illustrate and enhance the text.

Step Five

Audrey oversees the design and printing of your presentation.
